Tony Allen, Sportsmanship Award
Age groups U11-U17
Tony Allen was one of the inaugural members of Maroochy Centre in the early 1980s earning recognition for his ability in Race Walking where he was selected in the Qld U12 team to attend the national LA Championships in Adelaide in 1986. His record time for the 1500m Walk stood for 37 years. Tony was the epitome of “The Average Little Athlete” – he was small in Stature but very big when it came to Sportmanship and “having a go” at all events always endeavouring to achieve HIS personal BEST. He was tragically killed in a car accident when he was just 14 years of age.
